MICHAEL ANN EWING RACING
Michael Ann Ewing is a trainer I've cashed a lot of tickets on over the years. She came to Santa Anita a couple years ago, she's been to Del Mar, she sends out live horses. She gets the job done. She's low profile, thats why her horses don't get bet, but she's a good trainer.
Passionate. Ambitious. Committed.
Michael Ann Ewing Racing is team of knowledgeable horsemen and women who all share a love for horses, a passion for racing and a desire to win.
We know that not all horses will get to the winners circle the same way, our goal is to help each horse find their own path. To do so, we provide our horses with not only top notch care in the barn, but also a comprehensive education on the racetrack. As a smaller stable, we are able to take the time to get to know each individual horse and tailor our training program to meet the needs of that horse. In addition to the racetrack, we are also equipped with a grass gallop, paddocks for turn out and a nearby swimming pool.
Michael Ann Ewing
Michael Ann Ewing discovered her love for horses early in life and has successfully competed and excelled in a number of equine disciplines. She started in pony club as a young child before continuing on in the show arena.
In 2000, Michael and her husband, Jim, made the jump into thoroughbred ownership. She was instantly hooked and it was not long before she took an assistant position under Robert Hess Jr. She successfully ran his barn at a number of racetracks before taking out her own trainer's license in 2010.
Michael is a sharp horsewoman who practices a hands-on approach to training. Having been both an owner and trainer, Michael is sensitive to her client's needs for open and honest communication. She is also careful to find the balance between providing quality horse care and managing expenses effectively. Many of Michael's employees have been a part of her operation since the beginning, which speaks as a testament to both her character and leadership.
To hear more about Michael, take a listen to her conversation with Jude Feld on the Horse Racing Radio Network:
Kelsey grew up riding show horses and eventers, but transitioned to galloping on the track while attending university. After graduating with a degree in both Equine Management and Economics, Kelsey joined the team in 2016. She now helps run the day to day training as well as traveling and saddling horses at the races.
WHY MAE RACING?
Every horse has a training regime that has been tailored to the specific needs and goals of that horse. Our facilities allow us access to two racetracks, a large grass gallop as well as a nearby swimming pool.
PROXIMITY TO A VARIETY OF RACETRACKS
In addition to the racetracks in Kentucky (Keeneland, Churchill, Ellis, Kentucky Downs and Turfway), our central location makes it an easy commute to Indiana (Indiana Grand), Illinois (Arlington Park and Hawthorne), Ohio (Belterra and Mahonning Valley), Pennsylvania (Presque Isle), West Virignia (Mountaineer), Maryland (Laurel Park) and even Ontario (Woodbine).
EXCEPTIONAL HORSE CARE
All of our horses are cared for like they are our own. They are bedded deep, fed well and groomed to the nines. We also have two paddocks so that horses can enjoy a little downtime and catch up on some R&R.
